Dr Emily Shires is a medical practitioner whose academic journey in medicine began at the University of Cape Town, where she earned her MBChB degree with honours and distinction in the clinical examinations. After graduation, she completed her internship in Pretoria. This was then followed by a year serving in rural medicine, providing in-hospital patient care in numerous fields as well as outpatient and geriatric care. Thereafter she entered into private practice. Over the years she has done numerous courses as she strives for continued learning and medical excellence.

In her medical practice, Dr Shires endeavours to create an environment of trust, prioritising comprehensive care. Her approach, combining medical excellence with a deep sense of empathy, makes her a caring and dedicated healthcare provider.
